North Minzu University Located in Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the university is the only ministry University established in China's ethnic minority autonomous region, directly under the State Ethnic Affairs Commission. It is a University jointly built by the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, the Ministry of education, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the people's Government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and supported by Hefei University of technology Universities, the first batch of new engineering research and practice projects of the Ministry of education, the first batch of national demonstration universities to deepen innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, and the Silk Road University Alliance. The school, formerly known as the northwest Second University for nationalities, was founded in 1984 and renamed as Northern University for Nationalities in 2008.As of July 2018, the school has a total area of 1624 Mu and a total construction area of 400000 square meters. There are 24 secondary teaching departments and 10 disciplines including literature, science, engineering, law, history, management, economics, art, education and medicine, with a total of 73 undergraduate majors. There are 10 first-class master's degree programs, 9 professional master's degree programs, and 1 first-class doctoral degree program. There are 16 provincial and ministerial key disciplines. There are more than 21000 graduates, undergraduates and preparatory students from 56 nationalities in 31 provinces, cities and autonomous regions. There are 1332 teaching staff.
