In 1952, it was renamed Anhui Medical College. In June 1996, with the approval of the State Education Commission, it was renamed Anhui Medical University.As of May 2018, the school has four main campuses, namely Meishan Road Campus, feicui Road Campus, East Campus (under construction) and Chaohu clinical medical college campus, covering an area of 1820 mu. There are 16 directly affiliated teaching institutions, 6 directly affiliated hospitals and 9 non directly affiliated hospitals. There are 11426 in-service medical staff, including 1253 in-service staff and 702 full-time teachers. There are 31 undergraduate majors. Clinical medicine, pharmacology and toxicology, molecular biology and genetics are among the top 1% of ESI. It has 1 national key discipline, 2 national key disciplines of traditional Chinese medicine, 14 national key clinical specialties and 18 provincial key disciplines. There are 11943 full-time undergraduates, 3934 graduate students and 407 international students.
